Collages18Mark Bailey is a journalist who specialises in sport, health and fitness, men’s lifestyle, travel and adventure. He has written cover features for The Telegraph Magazine, FT Weekend Magazine, The Times Magazine, Men’s Health, ShortList, Men’s Fitness, Outdoor Fitness, Cyclist, Telegraph Weekend, Sport Magazine and EasyJet Traveller. His profiles, articles and interviews have also appeared in The Observer Magazine, Runner’s World, Bikes Etc., FHM, The Evening Standard, Cycling Plus, T3, ProCycling and Alpha Man and he writes a weekly column on sport, fitness, adventure and men’s issues for Telegraph Men.

An experienced interviewer, Mark has organised exclusive interviews with elite athletes around the globe including Usain Bolt, Wayne Rooney, Michael Phelps, Roger Federer, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Rory McIlroy, Gareth Bale, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Sir Chris Hoy, Ryan Giggs, Mo Farah, Shane Warne and Mark Cavendish. He has ghosted columns for Jonny Wilkinson in Outdoor Fitness magazine and for Jonny Brownlee on the Telegraph Men site.

Long-form features are his passion and he has researched a diverse range of subjects, including the growth of psychological training in elite sport, the impact of the recession on professional football, the rise in male body image issues, the true origins of supermarket food, and the potential for 3D-printed meat.

He has reported on The Ashes, The UEFA European Championships, the RBS Six Nations and The Olympic Games. A keen cyclist, he has completed amateur stages of The Tour Down Under, The Tour of Britain and the Tour de France and travels extensively to write ‘Big Ride’ cover features for Cyclist magazine, as well as to report on other active pursuits and adventures.

Over the past 15 years Mark has developed trusted working relationships with agents, sponsors, organisations and global brands such as VISA, Adidas, Puma, Reebok and Gillette to arrange exclusive editorial interviews for magazines and newspapers. He has also provided editorial and commercial consultancy services to PR firms and created advertorial and commercial content for brands including Virgin Media, Procter & Gamble, Remington and The North Face.

Mark previously worked as Features Editor for Sport Magazine in London before becoming freelance in 2010. He graduated from Keble College, Oxford University, in 2002, with a First in Modern History.
